What a shop runs on

The things that stop a sale when they stop working

Point of sale
Registers, cash drawers and receipt printers. When the till will not open, nothing else on this list matters.
Card terminals
The pin pad, the connection behind it and the settlement at the end of the day. Card payments bring rules with them, and we cover those below.
Store network and Wi-Fi
Metal shelving, mirrors and a full shop floor eat signal. Coverage has to be designed for the building you actually have.
Scanners and label printers
Barcode scanners and label printers drop off the network and nobody knows why. It is usually addressing, not the hardware.
Stock and inventory
What the shelf says, what the system says and what the website says should be the same number. That is a plumbing job.
Cameras and recording
Cameras that are actually recording, kept long enough to be useful, and reachable without opening a hole in the network.
The back office
The machine that holds the accounts, the payroll and the supplier files. Usually the least protected computer in the building.
Guest Wi-Fi
Customers want Wi-Fi. It must not sit on the same network as the registers or the back office. That separation is the whole job.
Phones and orders
The line customers call, the line suppliers call, and a way to answer both when the shop is busy.
What we do

In the shop, and behind the counter

Cabling and store Wi-Fi
Cat6 and fiber, access points placed for the floor plan, registers wired rather than hoped for. Our own crew, not a subcontractor.
Separating what must stay apart
Registers, card terminals, cameras and guest Wi-Fi on their own networks, so a customer laptop cannot reach the till.
Security and updates
Firewalls, two-step sign-in, antivirus that reports back, and patching on a schedule you approve rather than whenever it arrives.
Backups and a way back
Copies off site and restores tested, for the office machine, the server and the online store.
The online store
Build, move, speed up or fix. Hosting, certificates, checkout, and the connections to stock, accounting and the marketplaces.
One supplier for both halves
The shop network and the website on one contract, so nobody gets to blame the other supplier when an order does not come through.
Your online store

The platforms we build on and the marketplaces we connect

WooCommerce and WordPress
Self-hosted, you own it, and it sits naturally with hosting we already run.
Shopify
Hosted and simple to run day to day. We handle the theme, the apps, the data and the connections.
Magento and Adobe Commerce
For a large catalog and complicated rules, when the lighter platforms start to strain.
BigCommerce
Hosted, with more built in before you start adding paid apps.
PrestaShop
Self-hosted and widely used across Spanish-speaking markets.
OpenCart and CS-Cart
Lighter self-hosted platforms that suit a focused catalog and a tight budget.
Odoo
When the store, the stock, the invoicing and the accounts should be one system rather than five.
Built from scratch
When nothing off the shelf fits, we write it, and we document it so you are not tied to us.
Marketplaces
Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Newegg, plus the other major marketplaces. Listings, stock and orders kept in step with your own store.
Why retailers pick us

Why shops in Miami and Hialeah choose Barreras IT

Miami and Hialeah, on site
We are a Miami company and we cover on-site work across Miami-Dade, including Hialeah, Doral, Miami Lakes, Medley, Miami Springs, Coral Gables and Brickell.
We answer in Spanish
Counter staff, office staff and owners can call and write in Spanish or English and get answered the same way.
The shop and the website, one company
Most IT firms do the network and most agencies do the website. When an order fails you need one company that owns both.
We do not certify you for PCI
Nobody hands out a PCI certificate. We do the technical work and help you through the self-assessment. We will not sell you a badge.
Our prices are published
Every rate for the shop side is on the site, per device and per month. You can work out the cost before anyone sends you a proposal.
We do our own cabling
Cat6, fiber and access points are our own service line, so the shop floor gets done properly.
Per device, not per user
Two people sharing a register is one device, not two users. For a shop that usually costs less.
One supplier, one bill
Network, registers, cameras, phones, backup, hosting and the store, from one company.
After hours by agreement
Retail works weekends. Work outside business hours is available and priced in your agreement, rather than promised and quietly forgotten.

Questions we get

What retailers ask us

Can you make us PCI compliant, or PCI certified?

Nobody issues a PCI certificate. The PCI Security Standards Council does not certify merchants. Depending on how many card transactions you take, you either fill in a self-assessment questionnaire yourself or bring in a qualified assessor. What we do is the technical half: the network separation, the firewalls, the sign-in rules, the logging, the patching and the evidence, and we help you answer the questionnaire honestly. Compliance stays yours. We help you get there and stay there.
